Our 300-hour advanced curriculum builds on the same six core modules as the 200-hour programme, with deeper theory, more advanced exercises, and expert-level teaching focus. Below is an overview of what you will study during your 25-day intensive at The Sun YTTC Bali.

1. Shatkarma – Cleansing Process

Advanced practice and teaching of classical cleansing techniques. You will refine your own practice and learn how to safely guide others through:

  • Jal Neti – Water nasal cleansing (weekdays, first week)
  • Shankha Prakashalana – Intestinal cleansing (first Saturday)
  • Sutra Neti – Rubber catheter nasal cleansing (weekdays, second week)
  • Kunjal – Throat and mucus cleansing (second Saturday)
  • Kapalbhati – Breathing technique for purifying the frontal brain region (daily practice)
  • Mantra Chanting – Extended study of five foundational mantras and their application in class

2. Yoga Philosophy

Deeper study of the origins of yoga, its core principles, and how the tradition has evolved over thousands of years.

The four Vedas – Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, Sama Veda, and Atharva Veda – and their place in yogic wisdom.

Classical schools of Indian philosophy (Six Darshanas) – Poorv Mimansa (Jaimini), Nyaya (Gautama), Vaisheshika (Kanada), Sankhya (Kapila), Yoga (Patanjali), and Uttar Mimansa / Brahma Sutra (Ved Vyasa).

Advanced study of core yogic texts and practices – Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra and the eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga; the Bhagavad Gita (Jnana, Bhakti, and Karma Yoga); and Hatha/Vinyasa foundations: asana, pranayama, nadis, bandhas, mudras, and chakras. You will learn how to weave these themes into your teaching.

3. Yoga Anatomy & Physiology

Advanced anatomy for safe and intelligent teaching: injury prevention, biomechanics, and adapting for different bodies. Topics include:

  • Respiratory system and the breath–pranayama connection
  • Skeletal system and movement
  • Muscular system: physiology and key actions (pelvic girdle and thigh, trunk, shoulder girdle and upper arms)
  • Digestive system and Ayurvedic perspective
  • Cardiovascular system
  • Anatomy and physiology of inversions and advanced asanas
  • Endocrine and nervous systems
  • Bandhas and chakras from an anatomical and energetic perspective

4. Meditation and Mantra Chanting

Advanced meditation techniques and how to guide students through them. You will deepen your own Vedic mantra practice and learn how to introduce chanting in classes, workshops, and one-to-one settings. Emphasis on holding space, pacing, and adapting practices for different levels and intentions.

5. Pranayama

Advanced pranayama theory and practice: extended techniques, longer retention, and how to teach breath work safely to mixed-level groups. You will study contraindications, sequencing pranayama within a class, and using the breath to support advanced asana and meditation. Daily practice and teaching practice are built into the schedule.

6. Ashtanga Yoga and Vinyasa Flow

Ashtanga Yoga – Ashtanga is a style where you follow the same set sequence of postures every time, like a fixed “recipe”. Each movement is tied to the breath, building heat, strength, and focus. In the 300-hour programme you will deepen your Primary Series practice and begin or refine Intermediate Series work where appropriate. You will learn advanced modifications, hands-on adjustments, and how to support students with injuries or different body types. Emphasis on the three pillars – breath (ujjayi), posture (asana), and gaze (drishti) – and on teaching the method with clarity and confidence.

Vinyasa Flow – Vinyasa is “flow yoga”: movement is linked to the breath and the sequence can change each class. At this level you will design more sophisticated flows: advanced sequencing, peak poses, creative transitions, and themes that suit different levels and goals. You will practice teaching full-length Vinyasa classes, using clear cues and safe alignment, and learn how to adapt the same flow for beginners and advanced students. The training prepares you to lead dynamic, intelligent Vinyasa classes and workshops.

7. Teaching Methodology

Advanced teaching methodology: creating detailed class plans, using language that is inclusive and precise, and adjusting and assisting students with confidence and care. You will develop skills in mentoring, giving feedback, hands-on adjustments, and adapting your teaching for mixed levels, injuries, and specialized populations. You will practice teaching longer sessions and receive structured feedback to refine your voice and style as an advanced teacher.
